| 404 - Directions is a collective work in progress of visual artist Janeth Berrettini and composer/musician Herman Bühler. Premiered April 2006 in Mexico City 404 reflects the interchange between music and painting. The title of the performance is related to the four cardinal directions that define space as it is used p.e. in architecture, sociology, ecology or astronomy. | ![]() |

The music for 404 is based on a given structure that provides a time frame. The performance has a duration of 50 minutes and features live music together with action painting, resulting in four medium size pictures and a video of the actual performance.

| Janeth
Berrettini Born in Caracas, Venezuela, Janeth Berrettini has lived in Mazatlan, Mexico, since 2000. For over 22 years, Berrettini has produced art concerned with aesthic and social issues. Using a vast variety of techniques like drawing, painting, ceramic, sculpture, installation, performance and video, her art appears frequently in solo and group exhibitions. The artist has also collaborated with composers, choreographers and dancers for contemporary dance performances and video productions. Janeth Berrettini is the founder and curator of the Salon de Pequeño Formato and of the street art event Interversiones in Mazatlan, Mexico. The works of Janeth Berrettini are represented in internationally known collections, e.g. the Museo del Estampa in Mexico City and the collection Berl in Caracas and Miami. |

| Hermann
Bühler Composer and musician Hermann Bühler lives in Zurich, Switzerland. Hermann Bühler's works include compositions for Jazz (Attractors) and Indian music (Sojourn), concepts for improvisation (Septett) as well as compositions that include sound installations (Earth Bound). He is also a dedicated improviser and performer who is constantly extending the expression of his instruments (saxophone, clarinet, guitar) towards new boundaries. |
